Hush collects nothing
Last updated November 2, 2026
What Hush stores
Only your switch settings, such as whether Shorts are hidden, saved with your browser's built-in extension storage on your device. If you sign in to your browser and turn on its sync, the browser may copy these settings to your other devices. That copy is handled by the browser maker, not by Hush.
What Hush does not do
It does not read or store your posts, messages, history or passwords. It has no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting and no remote code. Its only network request is the optional dislike count described below.
Why it asks for permissions
Access to youtube.com, x.com, reddit.com, linkedin.com and instagram.com lets Hush hide parts of those pages while you view them. The storage permission lets it remember your switches, and the active tab permission lets the popup see which of those sites is open when you click it. That is all it uses them for.
Optional: YouTube dislike count
Off by default. When you turn it on, Hush sends the ID of the YouTube video you are watching to returnyoutubedislikeapi.com (Return YouTube Dislike, an independent service) to show its estimated dislike count. That service receives the video ID and, like any website, your IP address; its own privacy policy applies. Turn the switch off and Hush stops asking. On Firefox, the browser asks for your consent before the switch can be turned on.
This website
hush-media.dev uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles each request (including your IP address) to deliver and protect it. Our own server keeps no access logs.
Removing your data
Uninstall Hush and the browser deletes its settings.
